My girlfriends and I have an annual Oscars party and this year its my turn to host! Now, I care far more about the red carpet looks then that actual show however throwing a great party is always my priority. If you’re like me then you always try and find ways to stand out and make your party a great time for everyone, whether they are there for the actual show or just the snacks and great company. This year I am going for a red carpet theme and the right decor will make all the difference.
I like to wow people from the start, I plan on greeting my guests with Oscar Theme Cutouts all over the front door. Once they walk in I plan on having a fun Movie Theme Photo backdrop and some fun props for people to use in the photos.
The table decorations are another essential element of my Oscar party decor. My place is pretty small so I am opting for a few items to make the table really stand out. I am using a table runner that looks like a move reel for the dining room table and some fun table toppers to round it out.
I am keeping it simple with the serving pieces and using white and gold so I can resuse them in the future for another party. I try not to spend too much money on themed items that I can’t use more than once, the serving wear and plates are neutral enough to be used again say at Christmas.
Sometimes a party is a great time to update some of your own barware or accent furniture. I already own a bar cart that I plan on using with some of the toppers from the dining room table. If you don’t already own great barware now is a great time to invest in something that can be used all year round. A classic shaker is a must or if you want to invest a little more you can opt for a full set of barware. I would always reccomend a good ice bucket as well so your guests can make their own drinks and you are not running back and forth to the kitchen.
In terms of food, this is where Costco, BJs, or your local supermarket comes in. An Oscars party for me isn’t a full meal but lots of great snacks. There are plenty of bloggers and people on YouTube with great ideas, I honestly can’t be bothered and plan on going to my Costco and getting a wide array of hors devours to make my life easy and I can enjoy the party. People usually ask what they can bring so I always take people up on their offer. There are specific friends who love to cook, so I coordinte with them and make sure there is no overlap in my menu. Everyone else can bring beer or wine.
Let’s make this Oscar party one for the ages!
